One of the sayings around SOTC is “I’d travel to the other side of the world to see one person get saved but I wouldn’t cross the street to be someone’s entertainment” The reason for the saying is that some of our guys have some pretty powerful and amazing testimonies and a lot of do nothing clubs, ministries and churches have itching ears and they like to hear stories about Gods power but they refuse to live their lives according to Gods Word and it’s these people that we wouldn’t cross the street for. In Phnom Penh, Cambodia are the people we’d travel to the other side of the world for and have. These women and young girls are crying out to a god they don’t know but Jehovah God knows who they are and He has sent us to be His answer to their prayers.
Two years ago SOTC went to Cambodia by invitation from an Assembly Of God Missionary. We were told that Cambodia had the largest percentage of Buddhist believers per capita than any country in the world and that it was a major destination for pedophiles and sex trafficking. We were asked to come and help build a shelter for women and young girls. SOTC took up the challenge and went to Cambodia to buy the land in 2015. Since buying the land SOTC has funded from their membership over a quarter million US dollars. The 11,000 sq. ft. complex is 50% complete and occupied with at risk women and girls who are protected there and learning about the love of Jesus.
This year’s trip puts us in country on July 30thh 2017. We leave SF on the 28th and it takes two days to get there. We will be there for five days leaving Phnom Penh on the 4th of Aug and back into SF on the 4th of Aug.
We will be ministering to local schools and churches and a Bible School while we are there and passing the hat to support other local ministries operating in Cambodia. We will also survey the construction and hope to bring an additional $50,000 US with us pay for the labor and materials to finish the Center.
The trip is open to all SOTC members and the cost is approximately $1,500 for the flight and hotel. If you feel led to go make an application to join SOTC by talking with an SOTC member and if you’d like to stay home but feel a burden for the work being done there make a donation towards Cambodia and you’re money will go towards the Women’s Center.
